Instructions for Performers Wishing to Use an Official Accompanist

1. Please indicate on your entry form (by ticking the appropriate column and including the corresponding fee) that you wish to book an official accompanist.

2.The name and address of the accompanist you have been allocated will be indicated on the timing slip you receive. One copy of each piece to be accompanied must be sent to your accompanist by the 13th April at the address supplied. Please ensure that this copy includes metronome markings.

3. If you are planning to photocopy music, please refer to rules 19-20 of the Festival syllabus to make sure you have understood and complied with the rules on copyright. Please remember that you will need a further copy of your music for use by the Adjudicator on the day of the Festival.

4. Any photocopies should be securely fastened together in normal book/music format. (Glue or staples work quite well.) Please do not submit loose sheets or sheets stapled only at the corners.

5. The contact details of your accompanist will be on the timing slip you receive and it is then up to you to get in touch to arrange a run-through. Please do this in good time – your accompanist has other regular commitments and it may not be possible to fit you in if you leave it until just a few days before the festival. It is rarely possible to offer a run-through at the festival venue on the day.

6. The fee for practice with an accompanist is £24.00 per hour pro rata. You may like to know that most entrants, other than those in Recital classes, find that a half-hour session is adequate. Please pay the fee by cheque or cash directly to the accompanist at the time of the practice session.
