We are extremely fortunate to have the opportunity of working in collaboration with the Abingdon Symphony Orchestra to offer to a suitable candidate the chance of a concerto performance.

Alexander Walker (Musical Director of Abingdon & District Musical Society)r - Internationally-regarded conductor in demand with orchestras and opera houses including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Opera House, Finnish National Opera, Russian State Symphony Orchestra and elsewhere
Meyrick Alexander - Head of Woodwind at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and previously Principal Bassoon in the Philharmonia Orchestra. He has performed extensively as a guest with nearly every major British symphony and chamber orchestra.
Remus Azoitei - Professor of Violin at the Royal Academy of Music, he enjoys a busy concert schedule. He has performed in some of the most important concert halls around the world and recorded award winning CDs
Ian Jones -Renowned pianist and Steinway Artist and Assistant Head of Keyboard and Professor of Piano at the Royal College of Music in London
a) Candidates must be under 19 years on 1st September 2012.
b) They must have a good result at Grade 8 or written confirmation from their teacher of having reached an equivalent standard.
c) Pupils of the adjudicators may not enter.
d) Previous winners may enter only at the discretion of the committee.
Own choice of one or more movements of any concerto.
Time limit - 18 minutes.
An official accompanist will be available if required.
For the winner (if of sufficient merit) – the opportunity of giving a concerto performance at a *public concert with the Abingdon Symphony Orchestra.
For up to 2 runners-up - an *open rehearsal with the orchestra.
