It is expected that the majority of performers will enter the class appropriate to their age, but performers of above-average ability may prefer to enter one of the Recital classes to give them a performance time more appropriate to their standard. (The Recital grades refer to the choice of repertoire, not to the performer's current level of attainment, but there is an upper age limit of 19 years for Recital classes 1 & 2.)
